The foremost step is to decide the criterion your sociogram construction will be based on. It is usually a question about a particular activity. The criteria can be either positive or negative. Can’t differentiate?

Here are both of them explained

Positive Criterion

The positive criterion questions are usually the ones about the activities that students and individuals enjoy or would like to be a part of. For instance, it might be a question about the celebration of a birthday party, going on a vacation, or someone being a friend.

Negative Criterion

The negative criterion, on the other hand, indicates an activity that is not enjoyed and liked. These criteria are aimed at uncovering resistance and rejection existing between the relationships. For instance, it might be about asking students whom they will least enjoy a vacation or a birthday party.
